Research  Carousel

NEOEN is proud to present it's first Research Carousel to display the rich research being carried out within the region's school boards and authorities.  The event takes place February 25, 2010 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Sudbury.  Contact your board or authority's MiSA Lead for registration information.  Eleven projects will be presented by teachers from across the north east region.
The day will also include presentations from Laurentian and Nipissing University dignitaries.  The event will also be an opportunity to learn about the Research and Evaluation Pilot Project: Research Capacity Building in the North Eastern Region.

Spotlight on NEOEN in Dubai
Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar spoke to the success of the North Eastern Ontario Education Network in a recent presentation about Network Learning in Canada in Dubai.   The Third Annual Forum on e-Learning Excellence: Bringing Global Quality to a Local Context took place February 1-3 where Dr. Ben Jaafar presented Case Study: Teacher Knowledge Networks in Ontario Canada.  The case study covers the provincial MiSA initiative, and the collaborative efforts of the member boards and authorities of the NEOEN to successfully build capacity in the use of data within all levels of school boards and authorities.

Who are we?

The North Eastern Ontario Education Network is the Managing Information for Student Achievement (MiSA) Professional Network Centre of the school authorities and school boards of North Eastern Ontario.

What is MiSA?

In it's fifth year, the Ontario Ministry of Education's MiSA initiative places an emphasis on the use of data to support evidence-informed decision-making in classrooms, schools and districts.   The goal of the initiative is to increase capacity in the use of data to support improved student achievement.
