Research Capacity Building in the Northeastern Region
Pilot projects are being run in all seven MiSA Professional Network Centres across the province this year. Our region will be focusing our efforts in this project on three questions:
-
What research and evaluation activities are currently underway in the school boards and school authorities in the Northeastern region?
-
Who is responsible for carrying out the research in each of our partner boards and school authorities?
-
How are the results of the research boards are carrying out shared with the Northeastern educational community?
Dr. Jeffrey Wood will be leading the region through this project. He specializes in qualitative research, and has been involved in the Teacher as Researcher community for the past twelve years. He sits on several boards dealing with teacher research, including the NAEYC teacher research steering committee, and is a past president of the Teacher as Researcher SIG of AERA. Jeffrey was a teacher with Peel District School Board for eight years before joining Laurentian University five years ago as a professor in the School of Education. He has a Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington in early literacies and curriculum studies.
